As an artist, I’m fascinated with the everyday beauty surrounding me. Most of the time, I walk by unaware – distracted by minutia. That’s why I love photography. Holding a camera forces me to slow down and take time to look – really look at the world around me. It’s then I’ll see the red fence in the forest or the colorful leaves beneath my feet. These are the images that make up the Scene Gallery.

As an artist, I like to place limitations on myself to foster creativity. On any given day, I’ll limit myself to one lense; or shoot exclusively with a tripod. My chosen limitation for the images showcased in the Street Gallery was physical constraint: I captured every image with my feet firmly planted on a sidewalk or the street.  

Sharing stories is an essential part of our humanity. It has been since the days of cave drawings. Stories unite us and give our lives meaning and purpose. I believe everything is a story: logos, bumper stickers, graffiti, even window signs. All of them are messages saying “I am here. This is who I am.” Whether random or carefully crafted, each is a desire to share a message. The Story Gallery includes images from my travels. Some are as new as barely-dried spray paint. Others are centuries old. All await an audience for the exchange of information to be complete.
